What to Expect on Appliance Delivery Day

Delivery and installation are included with every Rent Something KC rental. Here's exactly how delivery day works, and the five-minute prep that makes it go smoothly.

Every rental includes delivery, installation, and haul-away of your old machine — that's built into the monthly price, not an add-on. It's also me in the truck, so I can tell you exactly what happens on delivery day and the five minutes of prep that make it painless.

Before we arrive

Five minutes of prep saves twenty on site:

  1. Measure the path, not just the space. The most common delivery-day surprise isn't the hookup — it's the doorway. Measure the narrowest door or stairwell between your entrance and where the appliance is going. Most washers and dryers need about 27–30 inches of clearance.
  2. Clear the route. Move anything breakable or in the way between the door and the install spot.
  3. Know where your shutoffs are. For washers, that's the water valves behind or near the machine. You don't need to touch anything — it just helps to know where they are if I have a question.
  4. Empty the old machine. If I'm hauling away an old washer, check the drum first. You'd be surprised what I've found in there. I'm not judging — but check the drum.

When we arrive

  • I bring your set in, place it, and level it.
  • Washers: I connect the supply hoses, secure the drain line, and run a short fill-and-drain test to check for leaks.
  • Dryers: I connect the vent and cord and verify it heats. (If your home has a gas dryer hookup, mention it when you order so I bring the right machine.)
  • Fridges and freezers: I place and level it and give you the rundown on how long to wait before loading it — usually a couple of hours for the temperature to stabilize.
  • If you have an old machine, it goes out the door on the same trip.

Before I leave, you'll see your appliance work with your own eyes. I don't leave installs untested.

After delivery

If anything seems off in the first few days — a new noise, a drip, a door that doesn't sit right — call or text me at (913) 214-1115. Service for normal wear and tear is included with every rental, and I typically swing by within 72 hours. You're not bothering me; catching things early is cheaper for both of us.

Scheduling

After you reserve online, I'll reach out to set a delivery window that works for you. I deliver across the Kansas City metro on both sides of the state line — if you're near the edge of the metro, check the service area and I'll confirm your address.
