RSKC LLC (“Rent Something KC,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates this website and provides services in the Kansas City metro area. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Contact and identity informationyou provide when you request a rental, create an account, or contact us — such as your name, billing and service address, phone number, email address, and (where required for a rental) a government-issued ID.
- Rental and account information— the equipment you rent, rental dates and locations, service notes, communications with our team, and account preferences.
- Payment information— payment card details and billing information you enter into Stripe’s hosted checkout and customer portal. We do not store full card numbers on our servers; Stripe processes and stores that data on our behalf.
- Communications— the content of emails, text messages, and recorded or transcribed phone calls between you and Rent Something KC. Inbound and outbound calls placed through our business phone system may be recorded for quality, training, and dispute resolution.
- Device and usage data— IP address, browser type, pages visited, referring URLs, and similar analytics data collected automatically when you use our website.

2. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Quote, schedule, deliver, service, and pick up rentals;
- Process payments, deposits, refunds, and recover past-due balances;
- Send transactional messages (rental confirmations, delivery updates, invoices, payment receipts, service reminders);
- Respond to questions, support requests, complaints, and disputes;
- Operate, secure, monitor, and improve our website and services;
- Prevent fraud, enforce our Terms of Service, and comply with our legal obligations.
3. How we share your information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers who help us run our business and only as needed for them to do that work:
- Stripe— payment processing, invoicing, and the customer billing portal.
- Supabase— hosting of our application database and authentication.
- Quo— outbound and inbound voice calls and SMS messaging to and from our business numbers.
- Resend— transactional email delivery.
- Google Analytics (GA4)— aggregate website analytics.
- Cloudflare— content delivery, DNS, and security/abuse protection.
- Delivery, service, and logistics partners — when we use a third party to deliver, install, or pick up equipment, we share the minimum information they need (name, service address, phone number, equipment).
- Legal and safety— we may disclose information when we believe in good faith it is required to comply with law, respond to lawful requests from public authorities, enforce our agreements, or protect the rights, property, or safety of Rent Something KC, our customers, or others.
- Business transfers— in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of business assets, information may be transferred to the successor entity.
All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
4. Text messaging (SMS)
If you give us your phone number and consent to receive text messages from Rent Something KC, we use SMS to send rental confirmations, delivery and pickup updates, service reminders, billing notices, and responses to questions you send us. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message from us; you can get help by replying HELP. Opting out of marketing or reminder texts does not stop transactional messages required to complete an active rental.
Your mobile phone number and SMS opt-in consent are used only to communicate with you on behalf of Rent Something KC and are not shared, sold, or transferred to third parties for their marketing purposes.
5. Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, measure site performance, and understand how visitors use the site. You can control cookies through your browser settings. See our Cookie Policy for details.
6. Data security
We use industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information — including encryption in transit, access controls, and use of reputable hosting and payment providers. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee that information transmitted over the internet will always be safe from unauthorized access.
7. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active, as needed to provide rental services, and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with our legal, tax, accounting, and dispute-resolution obligations. When we no longer need information, we delete or anonymize it.
8. Children
Our services are intended for adults aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Your choices
- Account information— you can update your name, address, email, and phone number from your account or by contacting us.
- Email— you can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in any marketing message. Transactional emails (receipts, rental updates) will still be sent while you have an active rental or account.
- SMS — reply STOP to opt out of further messages.
- Access and deletion— you can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by emailing the address below. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and we may retain information we are required to keep by law.
10. Third-party links
Our site may link to third-party websites and services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this one.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Effective Date” above. If we make material changes, we will provide additional notice (for example, by email or a notice on the site).
